Rochelle Park police recently arrested 8 people in connection with an undercover prostitution sting at a local hotel.
The undercover sting operation was conducted by Rochelle Park NJ as part of an effort to catch prostitutes offering illegal sexual services in the area.
An undercover police officer with the Rochelle Park Police Department posed as a prospective customer for the alleged prostitutes. Investigators searched online ads and contacted numerous prostitutes to arrange meetings with the undercover officer.
The undercover sting operation at the Rochelle Park hotel lasted for an entire weekend.
Rochelle Park police ultimately arrested 4 women for prostitution. The prostitution suspects include a 37-year-old Howell NJ woman, a 26-year-old West Orange woman, a 34-year-old NY woman, and a 36-year-old New York woman.
Police also arrested a 40-year-old New York man accused of acting as security for one of the prostitution suspects. He has been charged with conspiracy and aiding in prostitution.
Additionally, police arrested 3 individuals for promoting prostitution. The suspects include a 23-year-old Orange New Jersey man, a 35-year-old Maplewood NJ man, and a 42-year-old Newark NJ man.
Two of the suspects accused of promoting prostitution have also been charged with simple possession of marijuana because police officers allegedly discovered them with small amounts of marijuana.
After being arrested and charged, all of the suspects were released from police custody. They will be required to appear in Rochelle Park Municipal Court at a later date to answer the charges against them.
