Police recently arrested a Lodi New Jersey man who allegedly downloaded child pornography on his personal computer.
According to Bergen County prosecutors, the 69-year-old suspect had the illegal sexual images on a computer at his residence in Lodi, NJ.
After receiving a tip about the suspect, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crime Task Force began an investigation. Police from Lyndhurst, Glen Rock, and Upper Saddle River assisted with the investigation.
Police eventually served a search warrant at the suspect’s residence. During a subsequent search of the suspect’s computer equipment, police allegedly discovered images of child pornography.
The suspect was placed under arrest without incident. He has been charged with child endangerment as a result of allegedly possessing images of child pornography.
If the suspect is convicted of the very serious sex crime, he faces significant penalties. As set forth by N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4, endangering the welfare of a child can be classified as a second degree felony in the most serious cases. A conviction for second degree child endangerment could lead to a sentence of 5-10 years in New Jersey State Prison.
After being arrested and processed, the suspect was released from police custody on his own recognizance.
