Ridgewood NJ Janitor Accused of Child EndangermentPolice in Ridgewood NJ recently arrested a middle school janitor who allegedly touched a young female student during an after-school program.

According to Ridgewood law enforcement, the 52-year-old suspect worked at Benjamin Franklin Middle School as a custodian.

The victim, who is said to be between the ages of 12 and 14, told a parent about the alleged illicit touching. The parent then contacted a school administrator.

Once authorities became aware of the alleged inappropriate conduct, Ridgewood police started an investigation and spoke with relevant witnesses.

The suspect, a Jamaican citizen who lives in Paterson NJ, was later arrested and charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

After being placed under arrest and charged with the very serious sex crime, the suspect was taken to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, New Jersey. He was being held at the correctional facility in lieu of $30,000 bail.

Meanwhile, the suspect was terminated from his job as a janitor at the middle school. The company that provides custodial workers and maintenance workers to schools throughout the school district recently sent a letter to parents informing them that the company requires all job applicants to pass a criminal background check.
