Ridgefield Park police arrested a Paterson woman accused of stabbing a man with a kitchen knife during a domestic dispute.
According to law enforcement, the 22-year-old suspect got into a verbal argument with the 33-year-old victim at a home located on Maple Street in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey. The dispute primarily involved loud shouting and screaming before it turned physical.
At some point during the altercation, the suspect allegedly picked up a kitchen knife and stabbed the victim.
After the violent incident, the suspect allegedly ran outside the residence and slashed the tires on the victim’s car. The suspect then reportedly fled the area on foot.
The Ridgefield Park Police Department responded after getting a call about screaming at the residence. When police officers showed up at the scene, they found the victim inside the home suffering from a cut on his upper arm.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.
Meanwhile, Ridgefield Park NJ police, Bogota police, and members of the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department canvassed the area in search of the suspect. Police eventually located the suspect in a parking lot not far from the site of the alleged attack.
The suspect was placed under arrest without further incident. She has been charged with several criminal offenses, including aggravated assault, criminal mischief, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
After being arrested and processed, the suspect was taken to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, New Jersey. She is being held at the jail on a $75,000 bail amount.
