Police are looking into a fatal accident in Lodi NJ that caused the death of a motorcyclist.
According to law enforcement, the 25-year-old victim was driving a Honda CBR motorcycle on Memorial Drive when a Toyota Corolla slammed into him. Witnesses told police that the driver of the car was traveling southbound on Memorial Drive and trying to turn east onto Washington Street when he collided with the bike.
The victim, who lived in Lodi New Jersey, was rushed to Hackensack University Medical Center so that he could receive medical treatment for his injuries. Tragically, doctors could not save him; he was pronounced dead not long after the accident.
It was later revealed by police that the victim was wearing a helmet when the accident occurred.
Lodi police are currently investigating the motorcycle accident. Investigators have not yet revealed any information about the driver of the Toyota that allegedly caused the crash. Beyond that, police have not yet indicated whether the suspect was speeding, ran a red light, or committed any other traffic offense.
If the suspect is ultimately charged with vehicular homicide or manslaughter, he would be subject to significant penalties.
