Police recently captured a California man who allegedly distributed child pornography in Bergen County, NJ.
According to law enforcement, the 41-year-old suspect had an online conversation with an undercover cop posing as the parent of a young girl. The undercover officer, a detective with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Computer Crimes Unit, used the screen name “DejaVu1877” and reportedly convinced the suspect that he had a six-year-old daughter.
While having the online conversation, the suspect allegedly told the undercover detective that he enjoyed viewing child pornography. The suspect reportedly made the admission during several sexually explicit Internet chats.
Additionally, the suspect reportedly sent multiple images of child exploitation to the undercover cop.
Bergen County officials later secured a search warrant and executed it at the suspect’s home in Sacramento, California. After conducting the search, police placed the suspect under arrest.
The suspect was subsequently charged with the sexual offense of distributing images of child pornography.
After being arrested and processed, the suspect was moved to a jail in California. He is currently awaiting extradition to NJ. When the suspect is finally transferred to New Jersey, he will be housed at the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack NJ in lieu of a $75,000 bail amount.
