Burglary Charges in Maywood NJMaywood NJ police caught three men who allegedly stole packages that had been left on the front porches of local homes.

The Maywood Police Department got a call about individuals stealing parcels from the fronts of houses located on Thoma Avenue in Maywood, New Jersey.

A Maywood patrol cop saw an SUV matching the description of the vehicle used in the thefts. The patrol officer pursued the suspects as they drove down side streets, but he eventually ended pursuit when the suspects exited onto Woodland Avenue and sped off.

The officer later caught up to the car, which the suspects had parked along railroad tracks.

Four men jumped out of the vehicle and tried to flee the area on foot. Police were able to chase down three of the suspects and place them under arrest.

During the chase, the suspect said to be the driver of the getaway car allegedly pushed a police officer. The officer suffered minor injuries and was later transported to Hackensack University Medical Center for medical treatment.

The three suspects who were apprehended have been charged with multiple crimes, including theft of movable property, eluding police, and resisting arrest. Additionally, the suspect accused of striking the police officer has been charged with aggravated assault.
