Hackensack NJ Sexual Assault ChargesPolice recently arrested a man who allegedly committed a sexual assault and armed robbery of a woman on a street in Hackensack, New Jersey.

The suspect allegedly committed the serious crimes on November 27, 2015. According to law enforcement, the 30-year-old suspect robbed the 22-year-old victim at gunpoint while she waited for a friend near the intersection of Poplar Avenue and Grand Street in Hackensack, New Jersey. The suspect reportedly approached the victim, robbed her, sexually assaulted her, and then ran away.

The victim waited a week to contact local law enforcement and report that she had been sexually assaulted.

The Hackensack Police Department, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, and NJ State Police collaborated on the subsequent investigation and asked for the public’s help in finding the suspect.

Investigators caught a break in the case when the victim saw the suspect walking around Main Street in Hackensack on December 24. She immediately contacted Hackensack NJ detectives.

The suspect, who resides in Hackensack and works as a car washer at Teaneck Car Wash, was then interviewed by Hackensack police.

Investigators quickly identified the suspect as the likely culprit in the theft and sex crime. He was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with multiple crimes, including aggravated sexual assault, armed robbery, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

Additionally, the suspect was charged with possession of marijuana and heroin possession because police allegedly found him with illegal drugs when he was arrested.

After being arrested and processed, the suspect was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, New Jersey. He was being held at the jail on a $400,000 bail amount, with no 10-percent cash option for posting bail.
