A Washington Township police officer sustained minor injuries after an alleged drunk driver slammed into his patrol car.
The accident happened around 7:00 p.m. The Washington Township NJ cop was parked near the Westwood border when he got a report about a motorist swerving across lanes because he might have been intoxicated. The person who called police said that the drunk motorist was driving east on Washington Avenue in Washington Township, NJ.
When the police officer came across the suspect’s car, he flashed the police cruiser’s emergency lights and turned on the sirens. He then sped up and tried to catch up to the suspect.
At some point, the suspect reportedly crashed into the Washington Township police officer’s patrol vehicle.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital, where doctors treated him for accident-related injuries.
Meanwhile, the suspect reportedly kept driving after the accident and later crashed into another motorist.
Shortly after the second vehicle accident, the suspect was arrested and charged with Driving While Intoxicated (DWI).
The suspect did not suffer any injuries as a result of either DWI accident.
