Bergen County authorities recently arrested two New York men who were allegedly driving through Hackensack NJ with cocaine in their motor vehicle.
According to law enforcement, Hackensack NJ cops pulled over the suspects’ vehicle during a traffic stop. The Hackensack NJ police officers reportedly spotted an automatic weapon in plain sight and alerted the Bergen County Sheriff’s Department and the Bergen County Prosecutors’ Office for assistance.
Once police obtained a search warrant for the suspects’ car, they searched the motor vehicle and reportedly found a firearm, as well as four kilograms of cocaine. Officials later indicated that the seized cocaine has an estimated street value of approximately $200,000.
Both suspects were arrested by police and taken to Hackensack police headquarters for processing. One of the suspects is a 31-year-old Springfield Gardens man, while the other suspect is a 32-year-old Brooklyn NY man.
The suspects have been charged with multiple crimes, including possession with intent to distribute cocaine and illegal possession of a firearm. Moreover, the suspects could potentially be subject to enhanced penalties because they were allegedly in possession of the weapon while committing a drug offense.
After being placed under arrest and processed, the suspects were moved to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, New Jersey. They were each being held at the correctional facility in lieu of separate $150,000 bail amounts.
