Police officers recently arrested an Elmwood Park man who allegedly used the Internet to distribute child pornography.
The suspect is a 24-year-old resident of Elmwood Park. He is employed as a substitute teacher in Bergen County, New Jersey.
Authorities opened an investigation into the suspect after receiving information that he was sharing illicit sexual images of minors over the Internet. Police eventually got a search warrant for the suspect’s home in Elmwood Park, NJ. Detectives with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Sex Crimes Unit then went to the suspect’s residence and seized his computer.
A search of the computer allegedly led to the discovery of evidence that the suspect went online and obtained images and videos featuring juveniles engaging in sexually explicit acts. Law enforcement officials also indicated that some videos featured prepubescent girls engaged in sexual acts.
Moreover, the suspect allegedly used file-sharing software to share the child pornography with other people.
The suspect has been charged with multiple sex crimes, including child pornography distribution and child pornography possession.
After being arrested and processed, the suspect was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, NJ. He was being held at the jail on a $75,000 bail amount. If the suspect posts bail and is released from police custody, he will be prohibited from accessing the Internet or having any contact with minors while the criminal charges against him remain pending.
