A former Bergen County corrections officer has been charged with committing aggravated sexual assault more than a decade ago after the alleged victim came forward to authorities.
According to law enforcement officials, the suspect committed the sexual offenses in Bergen County NJ in 2013 and 2014. At the time of the alleged sex crimes, the victim was just 12 years old.
The victim kept the sexual abuse a secret for several years before eventually contacting the police and coming forward with the allegations against the suspect. Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office detectives conducted an investigation and talked to the victim before arresting the suspect. Police officers located the suspect in Paramus NJ and placed him under arrest.
The suspect, a 42-year-old resident of Paramus, was previously employed as a corrections officer in Bergen County, New Jersey. He now faces criminal charges for aggravated sexual assault and child endangerment.
After being arrested and processed, the suspect was moved to the Morris County Jail in Morristown, New Jersey.
