Police in Hawthorne New Jersey arrested a local man accused of sexually abusing a 14-year-old boy. The suspect, a 33-year-old man, faces criminal charges for criminal sexual contact in connection with the incident.
The suspect is said to live on Forest Avenue in Hawthorne, New Jersey. According to Bergen County NJ authorities, he committed the sex crime by inappropriately touching the underage victim on February 6, 2017 at a house located in Mahwah, New Jersey.
Police have not yet said how the suspect, a maintenance worker, came into contact with the teenager or how he might know him.
Once law enforcement became aware of the sex crime allegations, the Mahwah Police Department and the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit started a joint investigation.
Detectives with the prosecutor’s office soon spoke to the suspect in Paramus New Jersey and determined that there was enough evidence to arrest him.
The suspect has been charged with multiple sex crimes, including criminal sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child.
After being placed under arrest and processed, the suspect was taken to the Bergen County Jail in Hackensack, NJ.
