A Teaneck New Jersey woman was recently placed under arrest and accused of embezzling $160K from a Harrington Park NJ company.
The suspect is a 32-year-old resident of Teaneck, NJ. She was employed by a business in Harrington Park as an accountant and controller. According to law enforcement officials, the suspect used company computers to transfer money from the payroll to her personal bank account.
Prosecutors allege that the suspect committed the theft offenses between September 1, 2016 and January 31, 2017.
In January, company employees noticed the missing funds and contacted authorities. The Harrington Park Police Department then worked with the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office to investigate the theft allegations. Officials eventually decided to arrest the suspect. She was subsequently located in Paramus NJ and placed under arrest.
The suspect faces criminal charges for computer-related theft and theft by deception.
In addition to being charged, the suspect was also terminated by the Harrington Park business.
After being arrested and processed, the suspect was released from police custody on her own recognizance.
