Mahwah NJ police arrested two men who allegedly engaged in prostitution at a hotel.
Two detectives with the Mahwah Police Department allegedly noticed a man acting suspiciously while standing in the lobby of the hotel. The Mahwah detectives moved toward the suspect and reportedly smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the man’s clothing. According to law enforcement officials, the suspect, a 24-year-old NY man, told the police officers that he smoked marijuana that day.
Police officers ran a background check on the suspect and found out that he was wanted for a parole violation in New York. Mahwah New Jersey cops subsequently arrested the suspect.
While cops were making the arrest, a 21-year-old Brooklyn man approached. The Mahwah NJ officers allegedly noticed drug paraphernalia in the other man’s purse, so they arrested him too.
Mahwah detectives investigated and reportedly discovered that the two suspects had been staying at the hotel with a 23-year-old Brooklyn man and that they were using the hotel to sell illegal sexual services.
The three suspects face various criminal charges, including engaging in prostitution, simple possession of marijuana, cocaine possession, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
