A current member of the New Milford NJ school board was recently placed under arrest and charged with theft after authorities learned that approximately $92K had gone missing from the board’s account.
The suspect is a 57-year-old man who lives in New Milford and who serves on the borough’s board of education. He allegedly stole $92,000 in funds collected from registrants for recreational sports and summer camps to be held in New Milford, New Jersey.
The borough administrator noticed the missing funds in February 2017 and immediately reached out to local law enforcement. When New Milford detectives investigated the situation, they reportedly found some of the missing money.
The suspect was arrested and charged with a criminal offense for allegedly misapplying entrusted property and government property.
After being placed under arrest and charged, the suspect was released from police custody on his own recognizance.
