Waldwick NJ police officers are searching for a motorist accused of slamming into a motor vehicle and then leaving the scene of the accident.
The hit-and-run crash occurred a short time before 7:00 a.m. on Route 17 in Waldwick, New Jersey. According to law enforcement officials, the suspect was operating a motor vehicle (likely a Honda Acura) on Route 17 when he suddenly veered into a lane occupied by an SUV.
The suspect’s vehicle reportedly slammed into the SUV, causing the SUV to slam into a concrete median on the highway.
Another driver on the road captured video footage of the hit-and-run accident on a dash-cam. Detectives with the Waldwick Police Department have access to the dash-cam footage and are examining the video as they attempt to determine the identity of the suspect. However, heavy rain falling at the time of the car accident has made it tough for police to make out numbers on the license plate on the suspect’s vehicle.
If and when police can identify and locate the suspect, the motorist would probably be charged with leaving the scene of an accident. Moreover, the suspect may also be cited for other traffic violations like reckless driving and making an unsafe lane change.
