Police in Hackensack NJ are investigating a fatal shooting at an apartment building that resulted in two people dying.
The violent incident happened around 9:20 a.m. at an apartment complex located at 5 Linden Street in Hackensack, NJ. The Hackensack Police Department got a 911 call about a shooting inside the building.
When Hackensack NJ police officers arrived at the apartment complex, they found a victim in the lobby and suffering from several gunshot wounds. Those gunshot wounds proved fatal, with paramedics declaring the victim dead at the scene.
Hackensack cops soon found the other victim – the alleged shooter – in a motor vehicle parked in the parking lot at the rear of the apartment building. The first victim, a 66-year-old resident of the apartment complex, was reportedly shot by the second victim, a 63-year-old resident of the apartment complex. The men resided in apartments located on different floors.
It is believed by law enforcement officials that the 63-year-old man used a firearm to shoot the 66-year-old man. The suspect then used the weapon to kill himself.
Bergen County NJ prosecutors said that the tragic ending was “an unfortunate culmination” to a dispute between the neighbors. According to authorities, the suspect and the victim were involved in a long-running feud and had filed several complaints to Hackensack police.
