According to the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, the woman saw the suspect hiding in the bushes near her home. The victim contacted the Fort Lee Police Department, which then sent cops to the scene.
When Fort Lee officers got to the residence, located at 485 Summit Avenue in Fort Lee, they reportedly came across the suspect. A violent encounter ensued and the police officers reportedly used their police-issued firearms to shoot the suspect.
The suspect was then taken to Hackensack University Medical Center so that he could receive emergency medical attention.
Fort Lee authorities have not yet released very many details about the events that led up to the police shooting incident. It is unclear if the suspect might have threatened the officers or tried to assault them before they opened fire.
The Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office and the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office are investigating the shooting, which is standard procedure in such cases.
